What is Cataract?
Cataract is the loss of transparency of the natural lens within the eye. Lens with impaired transparency becomes like a sooty, spotted or frosted glass and complaints start related to sight. Objects are seen shapeless, blurry or weakly. Eye strain and headache occurs.
The structure of the natural lens inside the eye comprises of protein and water. The special sequencing of protein ensures lens to have transparent and light transmitting characteristics. Small protein molecules start to collapse over the years and finally the lens loses its transparency. The mature cataract occurs when this blur covers the whole lens in a way not to transmit light.
