Amsler Grid Test
Although it does not substitute a routine eye examination, the Amsler Grid Test is a scheme to ensure you to determine the early symptoms of macular degeneration (yellow spot disease) at home by yourself. We recommend everyone over the age of 40 implementing this test.
Manner of Application
Hang the scheme below to wall in a well illuminated room at an appropriate reading distance and in a way the middle point to be right at the eye level.
Wear them if you have glasses or contact lenses for reading normally.
Close one of your eyes with your hand and focus on the point right in the middle with your open eye. Pay attention whether or not you can see each of the 4 corners of the large square taking place in the scheme. Repeat the application for each of your eyes.
If you cannot see all corners or if there is ripple, refraction or blur on the lines, you may have the symptoms of age dependent macular degeneration. Consult to a retinal diseases specialist ophthalmologist at the earliest.
